October 2006 (Medialink) - Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are one of the most common urological conditions diagnosed in children, accounting for over one-million visits to pediatricians' offices each year. However, UTIs may be a symptom of a more serious condition known as vesicoureteral reflux (VUR). VUR is a pediatric condition that causes urine to flow backwards from the bladder back up to the kidneys, through one or both of the ureters.
