Children with ADHD often struggle in a school setting. Certain aspects of learning, such as concentrating, failure to complete assignments, and exhibiting appropriate classroom behavior, can be more difficult. They also tend to have problematic social relationships with peers and adults. Adolescents with ADHD often endure social isolation, academic failure, and family conflict. Due to this conflict and failure, children and teens with ADHD might experience low self-esteem and other emotional problems. With the proper treatment, however, children with ADHD can overcome many of these challenges and succeed in both academic and social environments.
If your child has ADHD, s/he might benefit from the unique treatment approach of the Institute for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity and Behavior Disorders. Our approach consists of individualized behavioral management training, teaching organizational skills, thorough diagnostic evaluation, and medication management. We often go into schools and work with the teachers, to make sure that your child is getting the proper reinforcement all day. We also offer parent training exercises where parents learn techniques to help their children. To learn more about how we can possibly help your child, call (212) 263-6622 today.
